This course introduces Adaptive Management and its application to Low-Tech Process-Based Restoration of Riverscapes. Students will participate in discussions, review readings, and develop an adaptive management plan for the Birch Creek restoration project.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand why adaptive management improves restoration success and learning.
  2. Use adaptive management in low-tech process-based restoration.
  3. Create an adaptive management plan outlining objectives, expected outcomes, monitoring approaches, maintenance triggers, and potential phased improvements.
